Thai Nguyen province has 4 farms with 5 bears kept in captivity. With Mr. responsibility's family voluntarily transferring 2 bears, Thai Nguyen currently has only 3 bears in captivity.
Talking about the transfer of bears, Mr. Khoi said: “I hope that if a family is raising one or some individuals who find themselves ineligible for a bear to live better, they should transfer. to rescue facilities so we can provide a better future for bears. ”
The group of non-governmental organizations protecting bears (Nature Education Center (ENV), FOUR PAWS, World Animal Protection Organization) welcomed Thai Nguyen Provincial Forest Protection Department to show strong determination in their efforts. force to end the bear farming in the province. “The close coordination between the authorities, bear farmers, people and bear protection organizations in recent bear transfers is a great signal that the bear bile capturing status in Vietnam is coming to an end soon, ”shared Ms. Nguyen Phuong Dung, Deputy Director of ENV. Ms. Dung also said that many efforts to transfer bears in other localities are also being implemented.
In the first few months of this year, there were 8 bears in 5 provinces were transferred to rescue centers. In particular, Ninh Binh and Can Tho have successfully completed their journey to stop bear farming, bringing the total number of localities without captive bears to 22 provinces.
Ninh Binh Bear Conservation Facility of FOUR PAWS is the latest 5-star "resort" for bears. According to the latest statistics from the Forest Protection Department, as of the end of July 2018, in Vietnam there are about 780 bears kept outside of rescue centers across the country. In 2005, the Government of Vietnam pledged to make efforts to end bear farming and reaffirm this view in 2017. The group of bear protection NGOs has been supporting the authorities in an effort to promote a complete end to bear bile farming in Vietnam.
