Dong Nai: People voluntarily transfer bears to the Rescue Center

admin

This bear has been in captivity for 20 years

This is an individual bear that Mrs. Le Thi Lan in Dong Nai has kept in captivity since 1997. During the inspection and re-mounting of the bear chip in Dong Nai, the World Animal Protection Organization (World Animal Protection) has together with Dong Nai Provincial Forest Protection Department directly discussed and lobbied bear owners and in early December, Lan's family made a petition to voluntarily transfer bears to the State. According to a World Animal Protection Organization official, this bear has shown no sign of bile extraction in recent years.

Lan's family representative shared, “My family has been raising this bear for over 20 years. After being transmitted and mobilized by the authorities, we have the desire to transfer bears to the State so that bears can be cared for and live in better conditions. I also hope other bear farmers across the country will soon deliver the bears so they can live close to nature. ”

The bear is taken to the car and moved to the rescue center

Previously, on December 11, 2017, the Hanoi Wildlife Rescue Center also received an individual bear horse from a household in Gia Lai. As a result, the two recently transferred bear individuals have now brought the total number of registered (registered) bear individuals across the country to 25 individuals this year. However, there are still 936 bears still being kept in 272 captive facilities across the country.

Ms. Bui Thi Ha - Deputy Director of Nature Education Center shared: “More and more bear owners are willing to transfer bears to the State without requiring any support. This is a very encouraging sign that the positive change in the awareness of the owners of bear farms about the need to stop this activity. One more bear is transferred, the way to stop the bear captive completely will be shorter. ENV would like to thank the owners of bear farms who have made the right decisions and hope that the examples of voluntary bear transfers will continue to be replicated. ”

Vietnam has two species of bears: horse bear and dog bear. Both bear species of Vietnam are protected by the highest level of law, which is on the list of endangered precious and rare species prioritized for protection issued together with Decree 160/2013 / ND-CP of December 12. / 11/2013. Sun bears and sun bears are also listed in Annex I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). In addition, according to Clause 3, Article 6 of the 2014 Investment Law (effective from July 1, 2015), bears, parts of bears and any products of this species are considered prohibited goods. Business Investment.

The officers completed the bear transfer procedure

On January 1, 2018, the Criminal Code No. 100/2015 / QH13 will officially take effect. Accordingly, the acts of "illegally hunting, killing, rearing, trapping, transporting and trading bears" or "illegally transporting and trading individuals, body parts or products of bears" and "onions Vi store (or store) ”will be criminally handled.
