The number of goods imported from Africa to Vietnam by sea is disguised in lumber crates.

On March 28, the Da Nang Customs Department said that it has cooperated with the police, the border guard and the Anti-smuggling Control team in the Central region to search the suspected container containing banned goods on the ship just arrived at Tien Sa port.

Functional forces detected 9.12 tons of ivory suspected to be camouflaged in wooden crates before being loaded into containers. These goods were imported from Congo (Africa) to Vietnam, received by an enterprise with the address in Quang Nam.

Authorities are inspecting the shipment to complete the transfer file for police investigation in Da Nang City to handle.

In October 2018, Da Nang police in collaboration with the Department of Economic Police (Ministry of Public Security) and Da Nang Customs seized a shipment of 10 tons of ivory and pangolin scales imported from Nigeria to Tien Sa port.
