Hanoi, March 6, 2020 - The Nature Education Center (ENV) has just released its latest media short depicting a bear farmer who regretted and decided to return the captive bear. to the rescue center. The film condemns bear bile farming and the use of bear bile, thereby contributing to the termination of bear bile farming in Vietnam.
The film depicts the most horrific nightmare of bears - secretly extracted. The nightmare in the film is a sad reality for nearly 450 bears being kept on farms in Vietnam.
The film begins with a cold bear lying on the floor in a rusty and cold iron cage, anesthetized by anesthetics and pain. From the perspective of the bear, the viewer can feel the extreme pain of the bear when the honey is extracted and that pain is multiplied by the satisfied laughter of the person who took the honey. Fortunately, it was a nightmare in the past because this time when the bear woke up, the bear owner repented and decided to give the bear a better life at the rescue center.
"Many bear owners can find themselves in this movie." Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Dung - Deputy Director of ENV said. “Due to human demand, bear bile farming has been profitable for bear owners. However, as the community increasingly turns away from bear bile use, more and more bear owners regret and volunteered to give bears a better future at rescue centers. Through this film, we expect more bear owners to voluntarily transfer so that the bears that have been kept for years in captivity can live for the rest of the day in more caring care at rescue centers. ”
In 2019, ENV continued to collaborate with Four Paws International, World Animal Protection and Vietnamese authorities to confiscate bears and chips, and convince illegal The bear farmer voluntarily transfers the bears. In 2019 alone, ENV recorded 34 bears that were successfully transferred to rescue centers; 23 of these were voluntarily transferred. From 2009 up to now, there have been 20 more provinces in Vietnam that have no longer kept bears in captivity, bringing the total number of localities without captive bears across the country to 34 provinces.
Since 2005 - the peak of bear farming, ENV has begun efforts to end this activity. ENV has worked closely with government agencies and non-governmental organizations to reduce the number of captive bear bears from 4,300 individuals (2005) to 432 individuals (December 2019). .
Recently, the contest "Write a letter to bear owners - Give the bear a better life" organized by ENV also received 97,000 letters from students all over the country, persuading bear owners to stop working. Taking bear bile ruthlessly and illegally.
Communities can contribute to efforts to end bear bile farming in Vietnam completely by:

This film is part of ENV's long-term campaign, in collaboration with FOUR PAWS International, World Animal Protection and the Vietnamese government to promote the end of bear farming and the protection of wild bears. left in nature.
ENV would like to thank FOUR PAWS International for supporting ENV in producing this film. ENV also thanks its Central and local television stations, MobiTV, VTC Digital and Sen Communications for showing this short film and conveying this important message to millions of Vietnamese people.
